This time of year inspires us to count our blessings and to reorganize and reprioritize what is important to us. As the team at Golden Care started to plan our holiday festivities in December, we all felt a twinge of conviction as we have been given so much. There are others in our very own neighborhoods with so much less and some with nothing at all. We struggled at the thought of feasting at a company “Holiday Party” and decided to give back to our community instead.
Golden Care has always had a special place in our hearts for our veterans, and that is why we have decided to give to the very first annual Veteran’s Stand Down event. ‘Stand Down’ is a military term designating that a combat unit has temporarily moved out of the field and back to base camp for rest and rehabilitation. Our administrative staff will be making hygiene kits for the homeless veterans, donating clothing, and working at the ranch on that first Friday to help in any way needed.
With an event like this there is always ample opportunity to serve and to give. Here are a few ways in which they still need help: hair cutting stations, sorting of all donated inventory, distributing towels for showers, passing out hygiene kits, ensuring water stations stay full, and handing out water bottles. There is also opportunity to participate in the Kids Zone, which will provide participants’ children with meaningful interaction and enjoyment.

The event will take place at Green Oaks Ranch in Vista, California from January 27th through the 29th.
Happy New Year,
Your friends at Golden Care
