Home Care FAQs

What services are included in Home Care?

Home Care can encompass a wide range of services tailored to meet the needs of an individual. These include Personal Home Care (like assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming), homemaking (cleaning, cooking, and grocery shopping), companionship, and specialized care for conditions like dementia.

How much does Home Care cost, and does insurance cover it?

The cost of Home Care can vary depending on factors such as location, the type and extent of services required, and the agency or professional providing the care. Private health insurance or other government programs may cover some Home Care, but coverage and eligibility criteria can differ. It’s essential to check with your insurance provider and local agencies to understand the cost and potential financial assistance available.

How can I ensure that the Home Care provider is trustworthy and qualified?

Ensuring that a Home Care provider is trustworthy and qualified involves researching and vetting potential providers or agencies. You can:

  • Check for certifications, licenses, and training credentials.
  • Read reviews and ask for references from past clients.
  • Ensure that the agency conducts thorough background checks on its staff.

Placement Services FAQs

How much do placement services cost?

Many placement services offer their assistance to families free of charge. These agencies typically receive referral fees or commissions from the care facilities or providers once a placement is made. However, it’s essential to clarify the fee structure upfront and ensure no hidden costs.

How do placement services determine the best fit for my loved one?

Placement Services usually begin by conducting a comprehensive assessment of the individual’s needs, preferences, medical conditions, budget, and any other specific requirements. Based on this assessment, they recommend options that align closely with the individual’s care needs and personal preferences. Some services may also facilitate visits to potential facilities, allowing families to make an informed decision.

What types of facilities or care options do placement services cover?

Placement Services usually cover a range of care options, including assisted living communities, nursing homes, memory care facilities, independent living communities, residential care homes, and sometimes even Home Care. It’s essential to confirm with the service about the options they can help explore.

Companion Care FAQs

What services are included in Companion Care?

Companion Care typically includes non-medical services to provide social interaction and assistance with daily activities. This can encompass companionship, engaging in conversations, participating in recreational activities, light housekeeping, meal preparation, assistance with errands, and reminders for medication. The focus is on enhancing the quality of life and combating loneliness.

How is Companion Care different from other types of Home Care?

While Companion Care focuses primarily on social interaction and assistance with daily living activities, other types of Home Care may provide more specialized and medical support. For example, home health care usually involves medical professionals providing clinical care, such as administering medications, wound care, and physical therapy. In contrast, Companion Care is non-medical and emphasizes emotional support and companionship.

Is there a minimum or maximum number of hours for which Companion Care can be hired?

The minimum or maximum number of hours for which Companion Care can be hired can vary depending on the policies of the care agency or service provider.

While personal Home Care is centered around enhancing daily living and providing social support, home health care is more medically oriented.

"Incredible service"

Special thanks to Golden Care for holding my family’s hand (sometimes literally) through an incredibly difficult period in taking care of my mother. Everyone from Porsha (owner), Linda (Director) and home aides were all invaluable in their care, compassion, and attentiveness to not only my mom, but my entire family. My mother suffered a massive stroke and needed around the clock care. In less than a day’s time, they had care set up, 24/7 for the next week. They continued to check in, and walk us through some of the more difficult moments, and recommended and coordinated directly with a wonderful hospice company, when the time for that came. Thank you Golden Care for your incredible service and passion for the job.

"Successful rehabilitation after serious injury"

When Keith suffered the loss of mobility from a traumatic head injury, the physical therapist at his rehabilitation facility could only work with him 3 times a week. Worried about his slow recovery and the pain he was suffering, Keith’s family contacted Golden Care. Our Care Manager connected our team of caregivers with the facility and provided Keith with 24-Hour supervision and care. Through daily physical therapy and around-the-clock support, Keith was able to return to full mobility"

"Aging safely in the comfort of your home"

Brian’s family knew things were getting serious when he could no longer make it up the stairs to go to bed. They approached him with assisted living facilities but he refused to leave his home. They decided to explore other options, and that’s when they came across Golden Care. Working with our caregivers allowed Brian to avoid assisted living while still getting the care he needs. We started a daily walking regimen with him and prepared nutritious meals that catered to his tastes. It was tiring at first, but now Brian walks his block daily and has no problem climbing the stairs to go to bed.

"The comforting hand of a Hospice Home Caregiver"

Near the end of her life, Sophie could no longer walk and was dependent on her caregiver Martha to provide the intimate care that her body no longer had the strength for. Martha sat by Sophie’s bedside day and night. Sophie told her intimate stories about her life and they listened to her favorite music together. When it was time for Sophie to go, Martha held her hand and comforted her until the very end.

"In good hands"

You couldn’t ask for more caring and loving people at Golden Care. My mom was 91 and we were determined to keep her at home until it was no longer viable. With the help of Amber and the other caregivers, we were able to do so. I have worked with a few other agencies and due to their lack of response in a timely manner or just not a good fit with caregivers, I was so glad to have found Golden Care. Linda is the BEST at communication. She herself has dealt with aging parents and is so compassionate and helpful. You know your parent is in the best hands with this team.
